Gunmen targeted the actor’s vehicle outside a Juhu sports facility; Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde vows zero tolerance against criminal syndicates.
MUMBAI — October 19, 2026 : Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped uninjured on Sunday evening after unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle outside a sports complex in western Mumbai, leaving his driver wounded and triggering a massive police manhunt.
The gunfire erupted near Pushpa Narsee Park in the suburban Juhu neighbourhood as Shroff was leaving an adjacent ground following a recreational football match. Witnesses reported that multiple rounds were fired at the vehicle, sending bystanders and fans who had gathered outside the venue scrambling for cover amid widespread panic.
Mumbai Police officials confirmed that Shroff sustained no injuries during the assault. His driver suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm and was immediately rushed alongside the actor to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle. Medical personnel treated the driver, whose condition remains stable. Authorities are currently verifying conflicting early reports regarding whether a second person among the crowd sustained minor injuries during the commotion.
Detectives have mobilised roughly 15 specialised squads across Mumbai to trace the suspects, review surveillance cameras along key escape routes, and reconstruct the sequence of events. Forensic experts cordoned off the perimeter outside the park on Sunday night, recovering spent cartridges and ballistic evidence to identify the weapons used in the ambush.
Investigators are also examining unverified social media posts claiming affiliation with the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The messages, which surfaced shortly after the shootout, issued threats directed at figures across the Hindi film industry connected to actor Salman Khan. Police officials said that while cyber and anti-extortion units are analysing the origin and authenticity of these digital claims, all potential motives remain under active scrutiny.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his Mumbai residence on Sunday night to assess the security situation firsthand. Speaking to reporters outside the residence, Shinde condemned the attack and stated that he had reviewed operational steps directly with Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.
“Ensuring the safety of Mumbai and its residents remains our paramount priority, whether for a public figure or an ordinary citizen,” Shinde said. “There will be absolute zero tolerance. No criminal syndicate, regardless of who runs it, will be spared.”
Shinde referenced the city’s historical crackdowns on organised crime syndicates in the 1990s, warning that law enforcement agencies have full authority to dismantle emerging underworld threats. Security has been tightened around high-profile film personalities in the western suburbs as the search for the shooters continues.
