Lufthansa, SWISS and Philippine Airlines lead network expansion at DXB ahead of UAE public holidays and school winter break
DUBAI, October 24 :Airlines across Europe and Asia are restoring and expanding flight schedules into Dubai International Airport (DXB), adding dozens of weekly departures just as UAE residents finalize bookings for the upcoming National Day holidays and school winter break.
Up to 36 weekly frequencies connecting Dubai with key European gateways will take off between late October and mid-December. At the same time, regional hubs in the Philippines, Central Asia, and the Aegean are seeing increased capacity, giving holidaymakers, business travelers, and expatriates visiting home far more non-stop options out of DXB.
The network ramp-up aligns closely with high-demand travel periods across the UAE. Schools operating under the Ministry of Education curriculum break for winter recess from December 14, 2026, through January 3, 2027, with classes resuming on January 4. Anticipation is also building around the UAE National Day public holidays on December 2 and 3, which provide an early window for long-weekend departures.

Lufthansa Group carriers represent the largest share of returning European capacity. Lufthansa resumes service from Munich on October 25 with five weekly rotations, followed by Frankfurt departures on October 26 operating up to five times a week.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) restarts daily non-stop flights between Zurich and Dubai on October 27, deploying its Airbus A340-300 fleet. Point-to-point budget carrier Eurowings follows on November 1, resuming direct routes linking Dubai with Berlin, Stuttgart, and Cologne-Bonn. Austrian Airlines will round out the group’s winter expansion on December 12 with the return of its Vienna–Dubai route.
In southeastern Europe, Aegean Airlines resumed Athens–Dubai operations on October 23, transitioning to daily schedules from October 26 under its codeshare partnership with Emirates.
Eastbound links have also strengthened. Philippine Airlines rejoined DXB’s schedule on October 21, joining Cebu Pacific on the high-density Manila route. Each carrier operates four weekly round trips, easing pressure on travel between the UAE and the Philippines ahead of the Christmas peak.
In Central Asia, Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana has restored services connecting Almaty with Dubai. That adds to earlier network gains noted by Dubai Airports this year, including Riyadh Air’s daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service from Saudi Arabia and Turkish Airlines’ non-stop schedule connecting Istanbul.
DXB continues to host more than 40 international carriers alongside base airlines Emirates and flydubai. These foreign carriers link Dubai to South Asian hubs across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, alongside wide-ranging routes across the GCC, Africa, and the Levant.
Despite the broader recovery, some operational adjustments remain. Schedules continue to adjust to regional conditions, and travelers must verify operational statuses before departing for the airport.
