Final works near completion on the landmark structure featuring four lifts, balconies, and dedicated viewing areas over Al Dhaid Lake
SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates — Sharjah’s new 320-metre Al Dhaid Bridge will officially open to vehicular traffic on November 15, as authorities complete final construction works on the project designed to enhance connectivity across the emirate’s Central Region.
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), working in coordination with the Sharjah Initiatives Implementation Authority (Mubadara), is executing the concluding stages of the infrastructure project. The bridge is engineered to streamline vehicular movement and establish seamless links between key arterial corridors across Al Dhaid.
Details and visual previews of the bridge’s design were shared during the Direct Line programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television. The structure incorporates significant civic and architectural amenities alongside its primary vehicular capacity, including four passenger lifts, balconies, and dedicated viewing decks overlooking Al Dhaid Lake situated beneath the bridge.
The infrastructure initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, focusing on upgrading public infrastructure, driving sustainable urban development, and elevating living standards across the emirate.
The SRTA confirmed that inter-agency coordination with relevant government departments remains underway to deliver ongoing road modernization schemes across Sharjah, prioritizing road safety, network efficiency, and community transit demands.
