Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of a comprehensive package of infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing soft mobility and strengthening transport integration across the Al Quoz Creative Zone, in line with the commencement of the Al Quoz Arts Festival.
The projects, delivered under the supervision of the Higher Committee of Al Quoz Creative Zone, are part of a broader master plan to develop the area into a globally competitive creative hub that supports artists, entrepreneurs, investors, and residents through an integrated and people-centric urban ecosystem.
A key highlight of the completed works is the pedestrian and cycling bridge on Al Manara Street. Spanning 45 metres in length, 5.5 metres in width, and standing 6 metres high, the bridge features an aesthetic design aligned with the zone’s architectural identity. It includes two access ramps, each extending 210 metres, ensuring safe and seamless movement for pedestrians and cyclists while improving traffic flow in the surrounding area.
In addition, RTA has delivered three integrated mobility hubs and developed 4 kilometres of dedicated pedestrian, cycling, and soft mobility tracks. These enhancements significantly improve connectivity between Al Quoz Creative Zone, Al Safa Metro Station, and Al Quoz Bus Station, supporting efficient multimodal transport and reducing reliance on private vehicles.
RTA has also completed preparations for implementing the Super Blocks project in Al Quoz Creative Zone, a key component of Dubai’s wider pedestrian pathway development strategy. The initiative enables selected streets to be temporarily closed and transformed into pedestrian-only urban spaces during major cultural events, including the Al Quoz Arts Festival taking place on 24 and 25 January. The festival is organised by Alserkal Avenue in strategic partnership with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture).
The Super Blocks project supports the objectives of the Year of the Family, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and Dubai Urban Plan 2040 by fostering social cohesion, encouraging walking and active mobility, and enhancing quality of life in cultural and creative districts. It also advances the 20-Minute City concept by enabling residents and visitors to access work, services, and leisure facilities within a compact, well-connected urban environment.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA and Vice Chairman of the Higher Committee of Al Quoz Creative Zone, said the completed projects reflect RTA’s commitment to delivering an integrated transport ecosystem that prioritises people, enhances mobility efficiency, and supports sustainable urban development.
Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, noted that Al Quoz Creative Zone represents an innovative model for empowering creative talent, entrepreneurs, and investors. She emphasised that the completion of soft mobility and transport integration projects will further strengthen the zone’s appeal as a global hub for culture and the creative economy.
Upon full implementation of the land-use master plan, Al Quoz Creative Zone is expected to accommodate up to 20,000 creatives, house 8,000 residents, and attract approximately 33,000 visitors per day. The plan includes a significant expansion of studios, workshops, leisure facilities, and affordable live-work housing, while preserving the area’s distinctive industrial character through adaptive reuse and a strong visual identity rooted in art and design.
