On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, the Consul General (CG) delivered an address following the flag-hoisting ceremony, extending warm greetings to fellow Indians and reflecting on the enduring values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Emphasising justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, the CG described the Constitution as a living testament to the sacrifices and aspirations of millions who fought for India’s freedom.
The CG expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates for their continued friendship and support, noting that India–UAE relations stand as a model of mutual respect, trust, and shared aspirations. He highlighted the civilisational ties between the two nations and underscored how this historical bond has evolved into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership spanning trade, energy, defence, space, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
Marking key milestones in 2025–26, the CG noted that bilateral trade between India and the UAE has surpassed USD 100 billion, with both countries setting an ambitious target of USD 200 billion by 2032. He also referred to the recent visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which landmark agreements were signed, including a 10-year LNG supply agreement, defence and space cooperation initiatives, infrastructure investments, and discussions on digital partnerships such as digital embassies.
The address also commemorated the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, paying tribute to Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and the song’s enduring role in inspiring patriotism and unity. The CG recalled national tributes to leaders such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose ideals continue to guide India’s journey.
Acknowledging the vital role of the Indian diaspora in the UAE, the CG praised the community’s contributions across sectors, describing them as cultural ambassadors who enrich the UAE’s multicultural fabric. He also highlighted India’s progress toward Viksit Bharat, with a strong focus on women-led development, youth empowerment, infrastructure growth, self-reliance, digital innovation, and environmental sustainability through the LiFE initiative.
Concluding the address, the CG called upon citizens to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and work collectively with a “Nation First” approach to build a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous Republic.
