The funeral of Confident Group owner C J Roy, who died by suicide in Bengaluru on Friday evening, has been postponed to tomorrow due to the delayed arrival of family members from abroad. The funeral was initially scheduled to be held today.
According to family sources, Roy’s body will remain at the Boring Hospital mortuary until tomorrow morning. The funeral service will be held at a church in Koramangala, where his brother resides. Earlier, arrangements had been made to shift the body from Boring Hospital at 9 am today, but these were deferred following the change in plans.
Meanwhile, Roy’s family has reiterated its allegations that pressure from the Income Tax Department played a role in his death. Speaking to the media, CJ Babu, a family member, stated that Roy had no financial liabilities, debts, or external threats.
“Roy had no debt, obligation, or threat from anyone else. The family was aware of the pressure he was facing from Income Tax officials. They had been present at his office for three days. Roy had asked me to meet him this morning,” Babu said.
Roy’s manager, Abil Dev, also pointed to income tax-related issues, stating that the problems began earlier this month. “I was informed that the issues were solvable. He would not have ended his life without immense pressure,” Abil Dev said.
C J Roy died on Friday evening at his office while Income Tax officials were present to complete follow-up procedures related to an earlier inspection. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
