As the demand for flexible and remote work continues to grow, Dubai Police have sounded the alarm over a surge in fake part-time and remote job offers circulating online, warning residents not to fall victim to digital employment scams.
Authorities say fraudsters are targeting individuals eager to boost their income by promoting non-existent jobs through social media and messaging apps. These offers typically promise fast returns for simple online tasks, making them especially appealing — and dangerous.
Dubai Police revealed that scammers often ask victims to pay upfront fees, share bank details, or transfer money under the guise of job registration or account activation. In more serious cases, victims’ bank accounts are misused for illegal transactions without their knowledge, placing them at risk of legal action.
Under the #BewareOfFraud awareness campaign, police reminded residents that genuine employers do not request payments as part of recruitment and encouraged job seekers to verify offers through official and trusted sources.
The public has been advised to never share sensitive personal or financial information with unknown entities, avoid sending money in exchange for employment, and engage only with verified organizations.
Dubai Police urged anyone who encounters suspicious activity to report it immediately via the e-crime reporting platform or by calling 901 for non-emergency cases. Officials stressed that digital awareness, caution, and community cooperation are essential in preventing online fraud and safeguarding public security.
