As a prelude to the World Governments Summit, the World Laureates Summit (WLS) held in Dubai witnessed the participation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
On the opening day of the summit, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Al Gergawi was awarded the prestigious Union Medal by the UAE President in recognition of his contributions to strengthening the UAE’s global standing. Al Gergawi, who also serves as Chairman of the World Governments Summit Organization, received the honor in the presence of UAE leaders and prominent global figures.
The event was also attended by UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dubai Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Held at Madinat Jumeirah, the summit brought together Nobel Prize laureates, renowned scientists, and leading researchers, marking a rare and distinguished gathering. This year’s WLS recorded its largest participation to date, with more than 45 heads of state, over 15 vice presidents, 500 ministers, and representatives from over 150 governments worldwide.
The World Governments Summit will take place over three days from February 3 to 5, focusing on five key themes: global governance and effective leadership; social wellbeing and capacity building; economic growth and strategic investments; future cities and evolving demographics; and future realities and emerging frontiers.
