Gurugram: Air India and Air India Express will operate around 50 special flights across West Asia on March 7 to help repatriate passengers stranded due to ongoing airspace restrictions in parts of the region.
The airlines said airspace over Saudi Arabia and Oman has reopened, allowing scheduled services to operate to Jeddah and Muscat, while several other routes across the Gulf remain suspended.

Additional Flights from UAE Airports
Special flights will connect major Indian cities with airports in the UAE, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah. Routes include services such as Mumbai–Dubai–Delhi, Delhi–Dubai–Delhi, Bengaluru–Dubai–Bengaluru, Mumbai–Ras Al Khaimah–Mumbai, and Mumbai–Abu Dhabi–Mumbai.
Passengers whose travel plans were disrupted due to airspace closures will receive priority on these additional services, the airlines said.
Scheduled Services Continue
Regular flights will continue between India and Muscat and Jeddah, with routes including Mumbai–Muscat, Delhi–Muscat, Kochi–Muscat, Kozhikode–Muscat, and Delhi–Jeddah.
Flexible Rebooking Option
Passengers holding tickets issued on or before March 4 for travel between February 28 and March 8 can rebook their journey to India within one month without additional charges.
Some Routes Still Suspended
Despite the additional flights, several routes between the UAE and Indian cities such as Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Lucknow and Jaipur remain suspended. Flights to Riyadh, Dammam, Kuwait City, Doha and Bahrain are also affected.
The airline group said services to Europe and North America continue to operate normally via alternative routes, with some flights making technical stops in Rome or Vienna.
