Authorities confirm the blaze at Dubai Creek was brought under control within 54 minutes; public urged to ignore social media rumors.
DUBAI: The Dubai Civil Defence successfully extinguished a fire that broke out on a boat docked in the Al Jaddaf area of Dubai Creek. Officials confirmed that the incident resulted in no casualties or injuries, thanks to the rapid intervention of emergency response teams.
The fire, which sent a massive plume of dark smoke billowing over the Creek, was brought under complete control within 54 minutes of the initial report. Following the containment of the flames, specialized teams commenced cooling operations at the site to prevent any potential reignition and to ensure the area’s total safety.
Fiberglass Materials Caused Intense Smoke
Addressing public concern regarding the visibility of the blaze, authorities explained that the density and color of the smoke were primarily due to the fiberglass materials used in the vessel’s construction. Fiberglass is known to produce thick, black smoke when ignited, which made the fire appear more severe to onlookers and residents in the surrounding areas.
Call for Responsible Communication
In the wake of the incident, Dubai authorities have issued a stern advisory to the public regarding the spread of information. Residents and social media users are urged to:
- Rely exclusively on official sources for updates.
- Refrain from circulating unverified videos or speculative reports.
- Verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it online to avoid causing unnecessary panic.
The Al Jaddaf area, known for its traditional dhow-building yards and proximity to the Creek, remained under the watch of Civil Defence during the final stages of the cooling process. Investigations into the exact cause of the fire are expected to follow standard protocols.
