Digital Evaluation Implemented for Over 9.8 Million Answer Sheets; Supplementary Exams Set for July
NEW DELHI – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially declared the Class 12 board examination results on Wednesday, reporting an overall pass percentage of over 85 per cent. While the results reflect a high level of academic achievement, the board noted a slight dip of three percentage points in the pass rate compared to the previous year.
Performance Metrics and Gender Trends Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj confirmed that girls have once again outperformed boys. The pass percentage for female candidates stood at 88.86 per cent, significantly higher than the 82.13 per cent recorded by male candidates. Notably, transgender candidates achieved a perfect 100 per cent pass rate this year.
In terms of high achievers, 94,028 students (5.32% of examinees) scored 90 per cent and above, while 17,113 students (0.97%) secured the prestigious 95 per cent and above bracket. However, the number of students placed in the compartment category saw an increase, rising to 1,63,800 students (9.26%) compared to last year’s 7.63 per cent.
Technological Milestone: On-Screen Marking For the first time in its history, the CBSE transitioned to a full-scale digital evaluation process. Under the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, approximately 70,000 evaluators digitally assessed over 9.8 million answer books. The board utilized 7,573 centers and deployed over 5.06 lakh invigilators to ensure the smooth conduct of exams across 19,967 schools.
Supplementary Exams and Next Steps Students who did not clear one or two subjects or those seeking to improve their scores can appear for the supplementary examinations scheduled for July 15. The window for the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for these exams will open on June 2.

To retrieve results, students must provide their roll number, school number, and admit card ID. Digital versions of the certificates are also available via the DigiLocker app, which students can access by verifying their mobile number and linking their identity details.
