Mojtaba Khamenei on Thursday accused hostile foreign powers of attempting to create internal division and social instability in Iran following recent military conflict and ongoing economic pressure on the country.
In a statement carried by Iranian official media channels, Khamenei said external powers were trying to weaken national unity through what he described as political, economic, and media pressure campaigns.
“The enemy’s plan and scheme, following the imposed war, economic pressures, and the advertising and political siege, is to create division and social disintegration in order to compensate for the defeats in the military field and to bring the nation to its knees,” he said.
The remarks came amid continuing tensions between Iran and the United States, with peace negotiations reportedly remaining deadlocked despite efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire after months of regional conflict.
Khamenei also called on Iran’s political leadership and government institutions to work together to address economic challenges facing the country. He urged measures to improve livelihoods, control inflation and rising prices, support domestic production and employment, advance scientific and industrial development, and combat financial corruption.
Reports indicate that Mojtaba Khamenei has been operating from a secure undisclosed location following the death of his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, during joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February 2026.
Several senior Iranian officials are also reportedly operating under heightened security measures amid continuing regional tensions and concerns over further escalation.
The conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel earlier this year resulted in widespread casualties and retaliatory attacks across West Asia, while disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz significantly impacted global energy markets.
