Specialised safety initiative across 35 schools aims to streamline traffic flow and enhance student safety during drop-off and pick-up times
DUBAI, August 29, 2026:Dubai Police have conducted comprehensive traffic safety training for more than 140 security guards from 35 schools across the emirate, strengthening student safety measures as educational institutions resume operations for the new academic year.
The targeted educational programme focuses on equipping school security personnel with the skills needed to manage heavy traffic flow, direct vehicles efficiently during peak morning and afternoon hours, and safely assist children entering and leaving school premises.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stated that the initiative forms a key component of the force’s broader strategy to collaborate with educational institutions to raise road safety standards. School guards serve as the first line of management on campus grounds, making their active involvement critical to preventing gridlock and avoiding incidents near school entrances.
The practical sessions, led by First Warrant Officer Ahmed Mohammad Khalaf, addressed everyday traffic scenarios guards encounter on duty. Training covered procedures for reporting minor traffic accidents through the Dubai Police smart application and the official “We Are All Police” channel, allowing personnel to log incidents quickly without disrupting vehicle movement.
Participants underwent practical exercises simulating real-world emergencies, clear lane guidance, and safe student embarkation and disembarkation from school buses. Guards were instructed on step-by-step emergency response protocols to ensure child safety remains uncompromised while awaiting the arrival of specialized police patrols or emergency responders.
The security training runs alongside broader municipal and transport authority measures in Dubai aimed at managing seasonal traffic increases, including deployed patrols, traffic monitors, and aerial surveillance around major school zones.
