A delegation from the World Health Organization has visited the UAE field hospital in Rafah, southern Gaza, to review the humanitarian and medical services being provided to support the Palestinian healthcare sector amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The delegation included Luca Pigozzi, Roy Cosico, and Heba Al Najjar.

The visitors were received by Ali Al Shehhi, who also serves as Director of the UAE field hospital under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.

During the visit, Al Shehhi briefed the delegation on the medical services provided to patients and injured individuals in Gaza, as well as the broader support and medical assistance delivered to healthcare facilities across the territory through the UAE-led humanitarian operation.

The WHO team toured various departments within the field hospital and reviewed treatment, surgical, and specialised healthcare services available to residents. The delegation also observed the efforts of UAE medical personnel working to provide essential healthcare and alleviate suffering amid challenging conditions.

Following the tour, WHO representatives praised the UAE’s humanitarian and medical contributions to the Palestinian healthcare sector and commended the field hospital’s role in delivering treatment and emergency care to patients and casualties in Gaza.

Al Shehhi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting Gaza’s healthcare system and continuing humanitarian initiatives aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the Palestinian people.

According to UAE officials, the field hospital in Rafah and the Emirates Medical Centre for Primary Care in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, have together provided healthcare services to nearly 97,000 patients from across the Gaza Strip since their establishment.

The facilities form part of the UAE’s broader humanitarian response aimed at supporting civilians and strengthening healthcare services during the ongoing crisis.
