ADDIS ABABA / DUBAI, May 31, 2026 – Dubai Chambers has conducted a series of high-level meetings in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations between Dubai and Ethiopia. The discussions brought together government officials, economic institutions, and investment organizations to explore new opportunities for economic cooperation and private sector partnerships.
The meetings were attended by Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, as part of a trade mission organized by Dubai Chamber of Commerce to Ethiopia and Ghana.
During the visit, Dubai Chambers met with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Industry, represented by Industry Minister Melaku Alebel. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation across key industrial sectors, increasing trade exchange between the two markets, and creating new opportunities for joint investments. Both sides also explored ways to strengthen partnerships between private sector companies in Dubai and Ethiopia.
In a separate meeting with the Ethiopian Investment Commission, represented by Deputy Commissioner Zinabu Yirga, officials discussed strategies to attract greater investment flows and deepen collaboration in priority sectors. The discussions highlighted the investment advantages offered by both Dubai and Ethiopia, while emphasizing opportunities available to international investors and businesses seeking regional expansion.
Dubai Chambers also held talks with Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), Africa’s largest sovereign wealth fund. The meeting, attended by Deputy CEO Meleket Sahlu, explored prospects for building long-term partnerships that can support economic development, facilitate cross-border investments, and create new business opportunities for companies from both markets.
The engagements form part of Dubai Chambers’ broader efforts to strengthen economic cooperation with emerging markets and support Dubai-based businesses in expanding their global footprint. Ethiopia, one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, offers significant opportunities across manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, and services sectors.
The trade mission to Ethiopia and Ghana reflects Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s commitment to helping companies operating in Dubai access high-potential African markets and capitalize on growing investment opportunities across the continent.
As Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a global business hub, initiatives such as these are expected to play an important role in fostering stronger economic ties, boosting bilateral trade, and encouraging sustainable investment partnerships between the UAE and African nations.
