Dubai Municipality has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the UK-based Institution of Occupational Safety and Health to strengthen collaboration in advancing occupational health, safety, and wellbeing standards across Dubai.
The partnership aims to promote a sustainable and integrated work environment aligned with international best practices, enhancing employee wellbeing, workplace safety, productivity, and overall quality of life.
The agreement reflects Dubai Municipality’s commitment to fostering safe and sustainable workplaces while supporting the emirate’s broader vision for human development and economic growth.
Under the memorandum, both parties will collaborate on developing specialised training programmes designed to strengthen professional competencies and empower national talent in occupational health and safety fields.
The partnership also includes joint research initiatives focused on identifying emerging workplace risks, enhancing future readiness, and supporting the development of innovative safety solutions through the adoption of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.
In addition, Dubai Municipality and IOSH will work together on studies, pilot projects, and practical initiatives aimed at improving occupational health and safety outcomes while facilitating the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and best practices.
The cooperation will further support capacity-building efforts through workshops, conferences, seminars, and joint training programmes targeting inspectors, specialists, and industry professionals.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Naseem Mohammed Rafee said the partnership marks an important step in creating a safe and motivating work environment that promotes growth, productivity, and individual wellbeing.
He added that Dubai Municipality remains committed to building effective partnerships with leading international organisations to enhance occupational health and safety systems and contribute to the development of global industry standards.
For her part, Vanessa Harwood-Whitcher said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating safer, healthier, and more resilient workplaces through international best practices and proactive risk management.
She noted that combining IOSH’s global expertise with Dubai Municipality’s ambitions will help strengthen professional capabilities, advance innovation, and support the development of future-ready occupational health and safety systems.
Dubai Municipality oversees an integrated framework for public health, occupational safety, and food safety across the emirate, using advanced methodologies to ensure high levels of prevention and protection while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
