Sheikh Ahmad orders immediate rehabilitation of Kuwait International Airport and praises emergency response teams after targeted attack.
KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, conducted an emergency visit to Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday to personally assess the severe damage resulting from a drone and missile attack launched by Iran earlier in the day.
The high-profile visit underscores the gravity of the incident, which resulted in at least one fatality and left several others injured. Sheikh Ahmad was briefed extensively by aviation and security officials on the casualties, the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, and the structural impact on key airport facilities.
During his inspection, the Prime Minister reviewed comprehensive damage assessments compiled by relevant authorities. He issued immediate directives to fast-track all necessary repairs and rehabilitation work, emphasizing that restoring the terminal’s operational readiness efficiently and safely is a matter of top national priority.
“Every necessary measure must be enforced to guarantee the safety of employees and personnel at the site as we transition back to normal operations,” Sheikh Ahmad stated during the briefing.
The Prime Minister also expressed his profound appreciation to the airport staff, civil defense, and emergency response teams. He commended their swift, disciplined execution of emergency protocols and their highly effective management of the crisis in the immediate aftermath of the strike.
As geopolitical tensions escalate, Kuwaiti authorities are working under high-security protocols to secure the site, clear debris, and implement safety audits required for the safe and efficient resumption of international flight operations.
