High-level monitoring and strict preventive protocols are active following reports of a traveler testing positive after leaving the country
DUBAI — The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has officially confirmed that no cases of the Ebola virus have been detected within the country. The announcement comes as part of a proactive effort by health authorities to reassure residents and the global community following reports of a traveler who tested positive for the virus after departing the Emirates.
According to an official statement issued by MoHAP, the individual in question had visited the UAE briefly before traveling to Uganda, where they tested positive for Ebola several days after arrival. Health officials emphasized that the traveler did not visit any healthcare facilities during their stay in the UAE, minimizing local exposure.
In response to the global report, the UAE has immediately activated its established public health response framework. Precautionary measures now underway include comprehensive risk assessments, contact tracing, and the deployment of approved preventive protocols. These steps strictly align with both national health procedures and international health standards.
“No cases have been recorded in the UAE,” the ministry stated, reiterating that the nation maintains highly advanced disease surveillance systems and rigorous preparedness measures to counter infectious diseases.
The UAE health ministry noted that it remains in close, continuous coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international health agencies to monitor the global situation and evaluate potential risks.
Authorities have strongly urged the public and the extensive expatriate community—including the large Gulf Malayali diaspora—to remain vigilant but calm. MoHAP advised against the dissemination of unverified rumors or misinformation on social media, emphasizing that all health updates should be sourced strictly from official government channels.
