Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched its specialised Artificial Intelligence (AI) Programme during the fourth quarter of 2025 in collaboration with the University of Birmingham. The programme aims to enhance employees’ capabilities and develop their skills in future technologies, supporting RTA’s strategic direction towards embedding digital transformation and adopting smart solutions across various areas of institutional operations.

The programme aligns with the Government of Dubai’s recent direction towards the adoption of advanced technologies, reflected in the launch of a new government ecosystem aimed at transitioning to self-executing and AI-led government operations within the next two years. This initiative is expected to enhance government efficiency and further develop public services through solutions powered by the latest artificial intelligence technologies.

The programme also reflects RTA’s leadership and continuous commitment to training and empowering its workforce in artificial intelligence technologies, driven by its firm belief in the importance of these technologies and their effective role in enhancing and developing the services it delivers to customers and the wider community.

The initiative attracted the participation of 463 employees from a broad range of functional and specialised disciplines. It focuses on building specialised knowledge, developing practical skills, and enabling the effective application of modern technologies, thereby supporting digital transformation and institutional innovation.

The programme forms part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to support the Government of Dubai’s vision for adopting advanced technologies and to achieve the objectives of the RTA Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030 while contributing to the goals of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. Through this initiative, RTA seeks to strengthen the readiness of national talent, enhance institutional performance, foster a culture of innovation, and accelerate the adoption of AI-driven solutions across the transportation and services sectors.
