One-kilometre flyover will slash travel time between Al Majlis Street and 2nd December Street to 60 seconds
DUBAI — Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority will open the fifth and final bridge of the Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project on Friday, October 30, concluding a Dh696-million infrastructure overhaul at one of the emirate’s most critical junctions.
The newly completed 1,000-metre, two-lane bridge links Al Majlis Street directly to 2nd December Street, carrying up to 3,000 vehicles per hour. By bypassing ground-level queues, the flyover shortens the transit time between both corridors from six minutes to a single minute.

Across the wider interchange, waiting times are projected to plunge from 12 minutes to 90 seconds.
The Trade Centre junction acts as a pivotal threshold connecting Sheikh Zayed Road with five major arteries: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Al Majlis Street. To resolve decades of peak-hour gridlock, the project transformed the historic surface roundabout into a synchronized, signal-controlled ground junction complemented by five multi-directional flyovers stretching 5,000 metres in total.

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, the upgraded junction serves more than 500,000 residents and commuters daily. It provides continuous traffic movement serving key business districts, including the Dubai World Trade Centre, DIFC, and surrounding commercial communities.
The broader layout features a two-lane upper bridge routing traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road toward Deira, two bridges linking Sheikh Rashid Street with 2nd December Street, and two dedicated bridges serving traffic between Al Majlis Street and 2nd December Street.
Contractors are also progressing on the linked Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, scheduled for delivery in 2027. That phase will add 1,500 metres of bridges and tunnels alongside a four-lane expansion in each direction, forming an uninterrupted corridor between Dubai World Trade Centre and the financial district.
