Over 460 employees upskilled to drive Dubai’s transition toward AI-led government operations.
DUBAI — In a major step toward transforming urban transit through advanced technology, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a specialized Artificial Intelligence (AI) Programme in collaboration with the University of Birmingham. The initiative, which commenced during the fourth quarter of 2025, has successfully engaged 463 employees as part of a strategic push to future-proof the authority’s workforce.
The comprehensive training programme is designed to enhance employee capabilities and cultivate expertise in emerging technologies. By embedding digital transformation across various operational sectors, the RTA aims to deploy smarter, more efficient solutions for the emirate’s massive public infrastructure.
Aligning with Dubai’s Smart Government Vision
This initiative comes in direct response to the Government of Dubai’s recent mandate to transition toward self-executing, AI-led government operations within the next two years. By equipping its workforce with cutting-edge digital skills, the RTA is positioning itself at the forefront of this public service evolution.
The training drew participation from 463 professionals across a wide array of functional and specialized disciplines within the organization. The curriculum focused on building core technical knowledge, developing hands-on practical skills, and enabling the seamless application of modern AI tools in daily institutional operations.
“The programme reflects RTA’s leadership and continuous commitment to training and empowering its workforce in artificial intelligence technologies, driven by its firm belief in their effective role in enhancing public services.”
Steering Towards the 2030 & 2031 National Strategies
Beyond immediate operational upgrades, the collaboration serves as a foundational pillar for the RTA Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030 and aligns with the broader UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031.
By fostering a culture of institutional innovation, the RTA seeks to accelerate the adoption of automated, data-driven solutions across Dubai’s transport network. This proactive investment in human capital ensures that local and international talent within the authority are fully equipped to manage the smart cities of tomorrow.
