Over 150 outstanding Indian school students, teachers, and business leaders honored at a grand ceremony in Fujairah Hail Media Park.
DUBAI: Incas Fujairah has successfully hosted the prestigious Incas – Oommen Chandy Excellence Award 2026, honoring outstanding achievements across the academic and corporate sectors. The ceremony, which celebrated more than 150 exceptional students from Indian schools across the Fujairah East Coast region, alongside distinguished educators and corporate leaders, was officially inaugurated by Muvattupuzha MLA Dr. Mathew Kuzhalnadan.
The high-profile event, held at the Hail Media Park Convention Centre in Fujairah, was presided over by Incas Fujairah President Joju Mathew. Convenor Usman Choorakkodu delivered the introductory remarks, setting a tone of community pride and academic celebration. The gathering underscored the deep-rooted ties between the non-resident Indian (NRI) community in the UAE and their home state of Kerala.
Incas Fujairah General Secretary Lestin Unni welcomed the dignitaries and attendees, while Manu John delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony saw the participation of senior organizational leaders, including Incas Fujairah Treasurer Jithesh Nambaron, General Secretary P.C. Hamza, Incas UAE Working President Yesuseelan, and General Secretary (Organization) Sanju Pillai.
Other prominent leaders in attendance included K.C. Abubacker, Vice President Ashok Kumar, General Secretary B.A. Nasar, Incas Fujairah Working President G. Prakash, Nasar Paramban, Vice President Anandakuttan, and Secretaries Shajil Vadakkekandi, Aneesh Mukkath, and Shaji Pookkodu. Joint Treasurer Manaf, Central Committee Secretaries Nasar Pandikkad, Subair E.T., and Sebastian, alongside Executive Committee Member Adv. Nasaruddin and various district presidents, also graced the occasion. Adding color and vibrancy to the prestigious evening, children from the Jawahar Children’s Club delivered a series of captivating dance performances.
The Oommen Chandy Excellence Award is instituted in memory of the late former Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, who was widely revered for his mass leadership and close ties with the global Malayali diaspora. Incas (Indian Cultural and Arts Society), the overseas cultural wing associated with the Indian National Congress, organizes these awards annually to foster academic excellence and community leadership among non-resident Indians in the United Arab Emirates.
