The specialised workshop in partnership with the National Media Authority highlighted regulations for digital media, AI, and streaming platforms.
DUBAI, June 30, 2026: The Dubai Press Club, in partnership with the National Media Authority, hosted a specialised workshop titled ‘The UAE’s Media Content Standards’ to outline the legal framework governing the country’s modern media landscape. Held on Monday in Dubai, the session brought together top media leaders, digital content creators, and industry specialists to review updated compliance guidelines designed to support innovation while preserving national values. The initiative addresses the rapid growth of digital media, artificial intelligence, electronic gaming, and on-demand streaming across the Middle East.
The workshop, part of the ‘Media Workshops’ series, was presented by Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Vice Chairman of the National Media Authority. High-profile attendees included Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, and Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, emphasized that these regulatory modernizations enhance the UAE’s competitiveness as a premium regional and global media hub. She stated that understanding these standards is vital for producing professional, responsible content that aligns with Emirati identity.
During the presentation, Al Shehhi focused on the landmark Media Regulation Law and its executive regulations approved in 2023. He clarified that the legislative updates are not intended to restrict creativity but rather to regulate and empower it, protecting public trust and societal values.
The comprehensive discussion detailed specific guidelines for emerging tech sectors. These regulations govern modern digital media platforms, electronic gaming, artificial intelligence applications, and on-demand streaming services, ensuring a flexible, investment-friendly environment.
Furthermore, the workshop highlighted critical safeguards to protect society from harmful media. Presenters reiterated the absolute necessity of combating misinformation and fake news by relying exclusively on official sources, maintaining individual privacy, protecting minors from inappropriate content, and completely prohibiting inflammatory material.
The UAE has rapidly modernized its legal framework for the media sector since the implementation of the 2023 Media Regulation Law. As a premier hub for Middle East News, Dubai continues to foster a digital-first economy by balancing investment-friendly policies for global tech giants with strict compliance standards to ensure public digital safety.
