Individuals residing in the UAE with expired visas must regularize their status or leave the country by July 9 to avoid legal penalties and fines.

ABU DHABI, July 1, 2026 — The temporary grace period granted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for individuals residing in the country with expired visas is set to conclude on July 9. Authorities have urged all affected expatriates to complete the necessary legal procedures before the deadline to avoid fines, deportation, or legal action.

The United Arab Emirates government has issued a final reminder regarding the conclusion of the temporary visa amnesty and grace period. Expatriates who are currently staying in the country with expired residency or visit visas have until July 9 to either regularize their legal status or leave the country without facing penalties.

Under this initiative, individuals who take action before the deadline can modify their visa status by securing valid employment or adjusting their residency parameters. Alternatively, those wishing to return to their home countries can apply for exit permits, which waives the accumulated overstay fines that would otherwise apply.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) emphasized that no extensions will be granted beyond the July 9 cutoff. Following the deadline, immigration authorities will resume strict enforcement measures. Regular inspections will be conducted across the emirates, and violators will face hefty financial penalties, potential detention, and formal deportation orders.

Affected individuals are advised to visit the official ICP smart channels, authorized typing centers, or immigration customer happiness centers immediately to resolve their status before the grace period expires.
