DUBAI, July 8, 2026: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has congratulated four Emirati students from Dubai Schools – Al Khawaneej for clinching the gold medal at the prestigious International Greenwich Olympiad held in London.
The global competition, which took place from June 14 to 20, 2026, witnessed fierce competition among brilliant young minds representing more than 80 countries.

Praising the achievement, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that investing in young national talent remains a strategic priority for the nation. “Creative minds are our greatest national asset. By transforming knowledge into innovative solutions, they create new opportunities and drive lasting progress,” he stated.
The winning team—comprising Ali Al Jarwan, Khalifa Al Marzouqi, Omar Al Balushi, and Saeed Abu Al Shawareb—briefed the Crown Prince on their innovation, the “Smart Irrigation Train.” The project brilliantly integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), solar energy, and smart agriculture technologies to vastly improve water resource management in remote agricultural sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan commended the students for bringing pride to Dubai and the UAE, urging them to continue their scientific pursuits and serve as role models for the youth.
The International Greenwich Olympiad is a premier global platform where students showcase creative STEM, art, and media solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
