Trump claims Washington spent $37.5 billion on military operations in the region as rhetoric between the two nations intensifies.

WASHINGTON:U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a sharp warning that American forces could strike Iranian nuclear facilities, signaling a dramatic escalation in rhetoric as Washington continues to assess its military posture and expenditure in the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters on the presidential campaign trail, Donald Trump reiterated his firm stance against Tehran’s expanding nuclear program, emphasizing that all military options remain on the table should Iran proceed with uranium enrichment beyond international limits.

The warning coincides with new financial figures highlighted by Trump, who claimed the United States has spent approximately $37.5 billion on military deployments, defense posture adjustments, and regional counter-threat operations linked to recent escalations in the Middle East.

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have remained high following increased military deployments in the Gulf region, heightened maritime security operations, and proxy conflicts across the Levant. Intelligence reports and international monitoring agencies have continually voiced concern over Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, specifically facilities at Natanz and Fordow.

Trump emphasized that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a core strategic priority for American foreign policy, asserting that striking key nuclear sites would be considered if diplomatic and economic pressures fail to deter Tehran.

Tehran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is strictly for peaceful, energy-generating purposes. Iranian officials have warned that any direct attack on its sovereign territory or nuclear infrastructure would trigger immediate, retaliatory military actions across the region.

Diplomats and international observers warn that direct strikes on fortified Iranian nuclear sites could provoke a wider regional conflict, impacting global energy markets and critical shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
