The UAE initiative seeks unsung humanitarians across the region who drive grassroots change and community upliftment.
DUBAI, Oct. 18 : Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has opened nominations for the latest edition of Arab Hope Makers, offering a Dh1 million reward to celebrate individuals dedicated to grassroots humanitarian service across the Arab world.
The initiative, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), honours unsung champions of volunteerism, philanthropy, and community development. The winner will receive AED 1 million ($272,000) to support and expand their philanthropic endeavors.
“Investing in hope is the most valuable investment for the future of human societies,” Sheikh Mohammed said in a statement announcing the opening of submissions. He emphasized that the UAE remains committed to inspiring constructive regional transformation by championing individuals who turn compassion into decisive action.
Submissions are open to people of any Arab origin or residence who have spearheaded impactful, non-profit community programs, healthcare initiatives, educational projects, or environmental actions without seeking personal recognition or financial gain.
Members of the public can submit nominations or self-nominate via the official portal, arabhopemakers.com. Candidates are assessed on the measurable impact of their work, sustainability, community resonance, and their ability to mobilize resources to serve vulnerable populations.
Launched in 2017, Arab Hope Makers stands as the largest regional movement dedicated to celebrating everyday humanitarians. Over previous editions, the initiative has attracted tens of thousands of submissions spanning disaster relief, orphan care, mobile healthcare clinics, literacy drives, and post-crisis rebuilding efforts, helping turn local community projects into sustainable regional institutions.
