Authorities urge residents and visitors to stay away from coastal areas until safety inspections conclude and weather conditions stabilize.
RAS AL KHAIMAH, UAE :Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have ordered an immediate, indefinite closure of all public beaches across the emirate to ensure public safety amid heightened coastal hazards and adverse marine conditions.
The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Public Services, working in coordination with local emergency and civil defence authorities, announced the operational shutdown of coastal recreational zones across the emirate. Access to public shorelines, community beach parks, and open waterfront strips remains suspended until further evaluation confirms that swimming and shoreline access pose no danger to visitors.
Local monitoring teams reported deteriorating marine conditions, marked by unpredictable wave activity and strong rip currents along the Arabian Gulf coastline. Municipal patrol squads and security teams were deployed along popular access corridors, including Al Rams, Al Marjan Island approaches, and the central public beach corridors, to enforce the closure and prevent beachgoers from entering the water.
Emergency management officials warned the public against bypassing cordoned-off shorelines, emphasizing that rough surf presents immediate drowning risks even to experienced swimmers. Fishing trips, recreational boating, and watersport operations near designated public zones have also been advised to exercise extreme caution and adhere strictly to coast guard navigational bulletins.
Local agencies instructed residents and tourists to avoid sea-facing promenades where breaking waves could spill over revetments and walking tracks. Municipality maintenance teams will use the downtime to inspect shoreline barriers, life-saving stations, warning flags, and safety signage before clearing public access.
Authorities emphasized that the reopening of public beaches will depend entirely on sea stability and municipal clearance. Residents have been urged to rely strictly on official channels, including notifications issued by the Ras Al Khaimah Police and municipal dashboards, while disregarding unverified claims circulated across social media networks.
