Sharjah has taken a major step toward strengthening its global cultural footprint with the announcement of a permanent headquarters for the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, revealed the plan during his radio and television programme Direct Line on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
The new headquarters will be developed alongside a modern conferences and exhibitions centre on a strategically located site near the Emirates–Al Dhaid–Khorfakkan road network, a key corridor connecting Sharjah’s major urban and logistical hubs.
According to Sheikh Dr. Sultan, the land was acquired at a cost of Dh146 million, with construction set to begin immediately. The project is expected to be completed within two years, with an estimated construction cost of Dh500 million.
Once completed, the new venue is expected to enhance Sharjah’s capacity to host large-scale international cultural, literary and intellectual events, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a leading global centre for books, knowledge and publishing.
