Initiative drops traditional qualification requirements to recruit staff for upcoming 2027 visitor experience
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai’s Museum of the Future has unveiled a recruitment campaign that bypasses traditional academic degrees and previous job experience in favour of core human skills, drawing 20,000 completed applications within its first 48 hours.
The initiative, branded as “Future Perfects,” launched on October 21 to hire full-time personnel for a new visitor experience scheduled to debut in 2027. Instead of standard curriculum vitae assessments, the selection protocol evaluates candidates on emotional intelligence, communication, storytelling, adaptability, and active listening.
The museum’s portal registered 42,000 visits during the initial two-day window. The recruitment framework departs from conventional hiring at a time when global workforce analyses advocate for skills-based hiring. An Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) report published in June 2026, titled “A Skills-First Labour Market,” noted that formal qualifications frequently fail to capture an individual’s complete competencies. A 2024 Harvard Business School and Burning Glass Institute study similarly pointed to an ongoing disconnect between corporate commitments to skills-based recruitment and its practical execution.
Having received more than five million visitors across 180 nationalities since its inauguration in 2022, the landmark institution seeks personnel capable of cross-cultural engagement and translating complex scientific concepts into interactive visitor engagements. Prior background in museum operations or customer service is explicitly not required.
Candidates initiate the multi-stage evaluation process by submitting an unscripted, recorded audition online designed to assess imagination and problem-solving without advance preparation. Shortlisted applicants advance to in-person simulations modeled on real visitor scenarios, concluding with panel auditions before subject-matter specialists. Public interactive audition platforms have also been set up across Dubai Design Week, Roxy Cinemas, and Virgin Megastore locations.
Azza Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Chief Operating Officer at the Museum of the Future, stated that curating modern visitor interactions necessitates looking past formal credentials to focus on how staff convey ideas and relate to diverse perspectives. Al Nuaimi noted that the strategy aligns with broader UAE development frameworks centered on human capital and innovation, emphasizing that operational delivery relies as heavily on human connection as on technological infrastructure.
Selected candidates will receive specialized institutional training ahead of the 2027 launch. Applications for the positions remain open through November 8, 2026, via Futureperfects.ae.
