Jerusalem: Air India has extended the suspension of its Tel Aviv–Delhi flights until July 31, citing ongoing geopolitical instability in West Asia and continued uncertainty over the regional security situation.
The airline had previously suspended operations on the route until the end of June, but announced on Thursday that services would remain halted for an additional month.
According to a senior executive overseeing Air India’s Israel operations, the revised schedule was communicated on Wednesday evening. The official said the flights had been “further suspended till 31 July due to the geopolitical situation.”
Air India initially suspended its Tel Aviv services following the escalation of conflict in West Asia in late February. The suspension was later extended multiple times through April, May, and June before the latest decision to continue the halt through July.
The ongoing instability in the region has created significant operational challenges for airlines, including higher fuel costs, airspace restrictions, and route diversions that have increased operating expenses.
Despite a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran, uncertainty in West Asia continues to affect global aviation operations. Most international airlines have either suspended or reduced services to Tel Aviv.
Currently, only a limited number of carriers, including Israeli airlines such as El Al, Israir, Arkia, and Air Haifa, have resumed partial services on select routes.
The disruption has affected more than 40,000 Indians living in Israel, many of whom rely on the Tel Aviv–Delhi route for travel related to employment, family visits, and emergency departures amid the ongoing tensions.
Reduced flight availability has also triggered a sharp increase in airfare prices, placing additional financial pressure on Indian expatriates and workers in the region.
