GDRFA deploys specialized field teams and expands seamless biometric processing to handle high passenger volumes returning to the UAE.
DUBAI, August 17, 2026:Dubai International Airport has finalized comprehensive operational preparations to manage the heavy influx of returning citizens, residents, and international visitors following the annual summer holiday season, authority officials confirmed on Monday.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has redeployed frontline officers, mobilized dedicated technical support units, and maximized the operational capacity of the airport’s smart gates to process high passenger traffic with minimal delays.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, stated during an operational review with airport department heads that immigration processing systems have been optimized to deliver a fully contactless border experience.
Using facial recognition and advanced biometric technology, passengers utilizing smart gates can complete passport control verification within seconds. GDRFA has also established dedicated arrival channels and red-carpet corridors designed to maintain efficient passenger flow during peak operational hours.

“Our operational readiness reflects the vision of Dubai’s leadership to consistently provide a world-class travel experience,” Al Marri said, emphasizing that border officers have undergone specialized training in “border hospitality” to maintain high service standards alongside strict security protocols.
The authority has tightened inter-agency coordination with Dubai Airports, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, and home carriers including Emirates and flydubai to ensure synchronized ground operations across all terminals.
