Inspectors at Dubai International Airport intercept raw gold hidden inside a passenger’s personal luggage following advanced scanning procedures.
DUBAI:Dubai Customs officers at Dubai International Airport have intercepted an attempt to smuggle 460 grams of gold, which was concealed inside a traveler’s personal bag.
The seizure occurred after customs inspectors flagged the passenger’s luggage during routine security screening at the arrivals terminal. Advanced X-ray scanning technology alerted officers to unusual density variations within the bag, prompting a thorough manual inspection.
Upon opening the luggage, inspectors discovered the gold hidden within the lining and internal compartments of the bag, intentionally disguised to evade detection and avoid mandatory customs duties and declarations.
The passenger was immediately detained by customs authorities and transferred to the competent law enforcement agencies for legal procedures and further investigation into potential smuggling networks.
Dubai Customs emphasized that its personnel undergo continuous specialized training to identify sophisticated concealment tactics.
