Sheikh Zayed Road closures, Hatta Dam watersports, and mass community events return as the emirate invites participants to complete 30 minutes of daily exercise for 30 days.
DUBAI, October 2, 2026 : Online registration is now open for the 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the month-long public health drive that transforms highways, beaches, and public parks into open-air sporting venues.
Organizers confirmed the landmark 2026 edition will run from October 31 through November 29, challenging residents and visitors to commit to 30 minutes of physical activity daily across 30 consecutive days.
The annual initiative, launched in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has drawn more than 16 million cumulative participants over its first nine iterations. What began as a local wellness appeal has evolved into an institutional fixture of Dubai’s autumn sporting calendar, temporarily shutting major expressways for community runners and cyclists.
This year’s calendar features four central mass-participation fixtures:
- Dubai Ride: The public cycling takeover of Sheikh Zayed Road returns on Sunday, November 1. Organizers reported more than 40,000 riders in 2025, double the tally seen during its 2020 debut.
- Dubai Stand-Up Paddle: The two-day aquatic event returns to the Hatta Dam reservoir across the weekend of November 7–8.
- Dubai Run: Scheduled for Sunday, November 22, the mass running showcase will once again turn Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai into a recreational track. Participation reached 307,000 runners last year, up from 70,000 during its inaugural run in 2019.
- Dubai Yoga: The closing mass-session will stage its second iteration on Sunday, November 29, concluding the 30-day window.
Alongside the primary events, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) will erect three free Fitness Villages featuring dedicated courts for padel, basketball, football, and volleyball, including designated ladies-only facilities. More than 23 community fitness hubs will deliver thousands of free training clinics, fitness sessions, and neighborhood classes across residential districts.
“For a decade, Dubai Fitness Challenge has supported our ambition to make Dubai one of the healthiest, most active cities globally,” said Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council. He noted that the 10th milestone coincides with the UAE’s Year of the Family, placing renewed emphasis on shared recreational activities among households and community groups.
Ahmed Al Khaja, Chief Executive of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), emphasized the lasting behavioral shifts the city aims to foster. “As we approach the milestone 10th year of DFC, our commitment remains strong: to nurture a city-wide culture of health, movement, and togetherness that creates a lasting legacy for future generations,” Al Khaja stated.
The public drive runs alongside a heavy schedule of elite international sporting competitions hosted across the city in November. These include the Emaar Dubai Premier Padel P1 (November 8–15), the DP World Tour Championship golf finale (November 12–15), the Dubai T100 Triathlon (November 13–15), the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix (November 21–22), and the Emirates Dubai 7s rugby championship (November 27–29).
Registrations for individual events, community hub classes, and village passes are accessible through the official Dubai Fitness Challenge digital platforms.
