In collaboration with Dataiku, RTA trains 50 officials at the 4th Industrial Revolution Lab to deploy generative AI for metro operations, smart inspections, and corporate automation.

DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has organized a specialized high-level training workshop aimed at developing smart solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. The initiative seeks to supercharge digital transformation across various operational fields, enhance employee capabilities, streamline corporate procedures, and boost overall operational efficiency and service delivery.

The specialized workshop was hosted by the Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at RTA’s state-of-the-art Fourth Industrial Revolution Lab. Organized in strategic collaboration with Dataiku, a global pioneer in AI and data analytics, the event saw active participation from around 50 employees representing various RTA agencies and sectors. Throughout the sessions, workforce teams reviewed innovative solutions designed to leverage AI for performance enhancement.

During the hands-on sessions, Dataiku introduced its advanced platform for AI and data analytics, which empowers users to design sophisticated predictive models and analytics seamlessly. RTA employees were given direct access to the platform to develop functional prototypes and test automated workflows tailored to the emirate’s mass transit infrastructure.

The workshop highlighted several employee-driven development initiatives already taking shape. Among the standout projects was an AI-powered “Chatbot” digital assistant designed for the Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3) to monitor Dubai Metro operations, allowing transit staff to query complex data systems instantly. Another high-efficiency tool showcased was the “Smart Job Description Generation” system, which utilizes automated algorithms to draft structural professional profiles for new institutional roles based on user-defined parameters.

Additionally, teams demonstrated an “Operations Dashboard” for real-time transit oversight, alongside an automated “Vehicle Inspection Using Advanced AI Vision Technologies” model. This vision system automatically identifies fleet violations to achieve 100% inspection coverage. The operational integration of AI features within the popular S’hail transport application was also thoroughly explored.

This training is part of a broader, comprehensive strategy by the RTA that includes hackathons, technical workshops, and higher education sponsorships for employees pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in AI and Data Science. These efforts reflect RTA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing corporate innovation and consolidating the emirate’s position as a leading global hub for the adoption and application of AI technologies.

The RTA’s aggressive pivot toward AI governance and implementation aligns with the Dubai Digital Strategy and the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. By transitioning daily operational mechanisms—such as the Dubai Metro oversight and automated vehicular inspections—into AI-integrated frameworks, the authority aims to cement Dubai’s position as the world’s smartest city while optimizing municipal resource allocation.
