The Dubai Tourist Police Department has honoured a taxi driver for his honesty and quick action in returning Dhs10,000 and personal belongings to a tourist shortly before the traveller’s departure from Dubai International Airport.
The recognition was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdul Rahman in the presence of Captain Ahmed Mohammed Al Muhairi.
The honoured driver, Geoffrey Ezra Amos, was commended for his integrity and commitment to ensuring the tourist recovered his belongings before boarding his flight.
The incident occurred when a tourist, rushing to catch a flight at Dubai International Airport, accidentally left behind a small bag containing Dhs10,000 in cash and personal items in a taxi.
After realising the loss, the tourist immediately contacted the Tourist Police Department seeking assistance in locating the bag before his departure.
Authorities quickly initiated a search and successfully identified the taxi driver. Upon being contacted, Amos confirmed that the bag was still in his vehicle and immediately returned to the airport to hand it over to police officers.
The Tourist Police subsequently returned the cash and belongings to the tourist, who expressed his gratitude and praised the high levels of safety, honesty, and professionalism in Dubai.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdul Rahman said the recognition reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to promoting positive values and honouring individuals whose actions contribute to enhancing the emirate’s reputation as one of the world’s safest destinations for residents and visitors.
The incident highlights the strong culture of integrity and community responsibility that continues to play a key role in supporting Dubai’s tourism sector and public safety efforts.
