Titled around President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s message of resilience, the massive Onam floral arrangement highlights the nation’s progress from camel caravans to Etihad Rail.
ABU DHABI, UAE:More than 1,000 healthcare professionals at Burjeel Medical City assembled a 250-square-meter floral installation honoring UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, marking a major centerpiece of this year’s Onam celebrations in the capital.

The massive carpet of flowers, crafted over 20 consecutive hours by staff hailing from 35 nationalities, was conceptualized by Malayali nurses and administrative team members at the hospital. At its center stands a detailed portrait of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed placing a hand over his heart in salute.
The design draws direct inspiration from the UAE President’s address reassuring the nation that the UAE remains strong, resilient, and capable of overcoming adversity. Incorporating elements of the country’s transformation, the floral tapestry visually charts the nation’s history, moving from traditional camel caravans to the modern Etihad Rail network.
At the center of the installation stands the hospital courtyard’s permanent Sand Pendulum, serving as a symbol of continuity and time.

Amira Al Kashef, an Emirati national and Assistant Director of Nursing at Burjeel Medical City, stated that the artwork reflects the strength derived from leadership and mutual trust, showcasing the progress achieved by the country.
Dr. Mujtaba Ali Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Burjeel Medical City, noted that the initiative serves as a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of resilience and forward momentum.
The event featured traditional Onam festivities around the floral carpet, including Thiruvathira performances and cultural games. Burjeel Medical City regularly marks Onam by creating large-scale floral art centered on themes of national importance.
