The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has successfully retained its GEO Certified sustainability accreditation for the fourth consecutive year, reinforcing its position as a regional leader in environmental sustainability and social responsibility in sport.

The achievement makes the Hero Dubai Desert Classic the first tournament in the Middle East to secure and maintain the prestigious certification across four successive editions. It is also the first event in the Rolex Series of the DP World Tour to reach this milestone.

The announcement coincided with World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5, which promotes collective action and sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.

The certification is awarded by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf following an independent assessment of tournament operations. The evaluation covers areas such as event management, environmental impact, community engagement, and long-term sustainability outcomes, while also identifying opportunities for future improvement.

Simon Corkill described the recognition as a significant achievement reflecting the commitment of everyone involved in organising the tournament.

“Retaining this sustainability certification for a fourth consecutive year is a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of everyone involved in delivering the tournament,” he said.

Corkill added that sustainability has become a core component of the tournament’s planning and decision-making processes, with organisers continuing to develop initiatives that reduce environmental impact, generate positive social outcomes, and leave a lasting legacy.

He also thanked partners, suppliers, and spectators for their ongoing support in helping the tournament achieve its sustainability goals.

The continued recognition highlights the growing emphasis on environmental responsibility within international sporting events and strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a destination committed to sustainable event management and innovation.
