Sunday’s race at Al Mamzar Beach Park enters the official World Triathlon calendar, offering qualifying berths for Hamburg.
DUBAI — 9 October 2026 :Elite competitors and age-group endurance racers will gather at Al Mamzar Beach Park on Sunday, October 11, for the inaugural Dubai Police Triathlon, an official qualifier for the 2027 World Triathlon Championships in Germany.
The competition marks a significant milestone for local endurance sport after earning formal sanctioning on the World Triathlon international racing calendar. Top finishers across designated divisions will secure qualification slots for the 2027 World Championships, scheduled for September 8–12 in Hamburg.
Organised under the governance of the UAE Triathlon Federation, the single-day multi-sport fixture features swimming, cycling, and running segments along Dubai’s northern coastline.
Details of the event were announced by race organizers during a briefing at the Cycling Hub inside the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. The race program accommodates both elite triathletes and grassroots community entrants through individual and team relay divisions.
Individual participants will contest Sprint, Standard, and Olympic distance categories divided across seven distinct age groups. Relay divisions follow matching distances, enabling clubs, corporate squads, and community teams to split the swim, bike, and run legs.
The race forms a central component of Dubai Police’s 2026 athletic calendar, which includes 14 competitive cycling and endurance races staged over an eight-month window in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Cycling Federation.
Organisers selected Al Mamzar Beach Park to provide sheltered open-water swimming alongside wide, paved corridors capable of handling cycle-drafting dynamics and spectator traffic. The venue layout separates active race corridors from community viewing areas to ensure safety during transition phases.
Beyond high-performance sports qualification, police officials framed the race as part of a wider public health mandate under the banner “Sport as a Way of Life,” designed to lower lifestyle-related health risks through competitive physical activity.
Race-day logistics, course marshaling, and coastal water safety will be managed directly by Dubai Police marine and traffic divisions alongside municipal rescue squads.
