DUBAI: The winners of the Arabic poetry competition organized in memory of late Kottumala Bappu Musliyar were honoured at a grand ceremony held at Katameri, Vatakara in Kozhikode district. The awards were presented by Samastha Kerala Jam’iyyathul Ulama President, Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal.
Sibgatullah Hudawi secured the first prize, followed by Muhammad Ansar Rahmani Pattikkad in second place and Muhammad Shafeeque Hudawi in third. The competition, conducted under the theme “Samastha,” witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 100 contestants. Winners received cash prizes of ₹20,000, ₹10,000, and ₹5,000 respectively, along with mementos.
The award distribution coincided with the inaugural ceremony of ‘Theopark,’ Kerala’s first research centre dedicated to Islamic faith and ideology. The initiative has been launched by the Rahmanies Association Central Committee, the alumni body of Jamia Rahmaniya Katameri, in honour of Kottumala Bappu Musliyar — a visionary leader and a key figure in Samastha’s legacy.
A distinguished panel of scholars, including Abdussalam Baqavi Vadakkekad, Basheer Abdullah Faizy Cheekkonnu, and Dr. C.K. Abdurahman Faizy Aripra, evaluated the entries and selected the winners.
UAE Rahmanies officials, including President Abdussalam Rahmani Jeelani, General Secretary M.A. Salam Rahmani Koottalungal, Treasurer Nasar Rahmani Pavanna, and Program Coordinator Abdul Vajid Rahmani, extended their congratulations to the winners, praising their literary excellence and dedication to Arabic poetry.
The event reflected a strong commitment to nurturing intellectual and cultural traditions among the community, while also commemorating the enduring legacy of Kottumala Bappu Musliyar.
