The welfare initiative aimed at safeguarding diaspora Keralites moves to its next registration cycle, expanding access to vital support networks.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — The second phase of enrollment for “Norka Care Plus,” a dedicated welfare and insurance program for expatriate Keralites, will officially open on August 18.

The initiative will be inaugurated by V. D. Satheesan, marking a key expansion in the state’s outreach to millions of diaspora workers living abroad.

Administered through NORKA-Roots—the official nodal agency for non-resident Keralites—the Care Plus scheme is designed to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access, accidental insurance, and financial security for migrant workers and their families.

Eligible expatriates can complete their registration through the official NORKA-Roots web portal during the enrollment window. The program provides structured coverage options tailored to address the unique vulnerabilities faced by overseas workers, particularly those residing in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

State authorities have emphasized the necessity of expanding robust safety nets as migration patterns evolve. The upcoming rollout aims to bring a larger segment of the expatriate community under institutional protection, ensuring smoother grievance redressal and welfare delivery.
