Joint initiative by Dubai KMCC and CH Centre Dubai Chapter aims to streamline healthcare access, administrative clearance, and welfare support for Non-Resident Keralites
KOZHIKODE — Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs) and their dependents will soon have access to dedicated administrative, welfare, and healthcare guidance in northern Kerala with the launch of ‘Pravasi Bhavan’ near the Government Medical College Hospital campus in Kozhikode.
The one-stop support facility, housed at the Sayyid Hyderali Shihab Thangal Saudham, will be formally inaugurated on Sunday, September 27, at 3:00 PM IST by Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal.
The initiative is conceived and executed jointly by the Dubai District Committee of the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and the Dubai Chapter of the Kozhikode Medical College C.H. Mohammad Koya Centre (CH Centre).
The facility addresses recurring logistical hurdles expatriates face when returning home for urgent medical attention or navigating complex bureaucratic paperwork. In addition to guiding families through specialized hospital appointments and medical services at the Kozhikode Medical College, Pravasi Bhavan will act as a frontline desk for welfare programmes administered by state bodies like NORKA Roots (Non-Resident Keralites Affairs).
Dedicated desk staff will manage the center daily, offering end-to-end guidance spanning welfare claims, hospital documentation, emergency travel support, and repatriation affairs.
“The core vision behind Pravasi Bhavan is to build an inclusive, non-partisan hub where any expatriate worker or their kin can walk in and obtain immediate relief without red tape,” said K.P. Muhammed, President of both the Dubai KMCC Kozhikode District Committee and the Dubai Chapter of the CH Centre. “Whether navigating government-sponsored welfare programs or tertiary hospital care, returnees and diaspora families often struggle with procedural bottlenecks. This institution bridges that gap.”
Several community leaders, parliamentarians, and state legislators are scheduled to attend Sunday’s ceremony, including Indian Union Muslim League National General Secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, Member of Parliament Dr. M.P. Abdussamad Samadani, and IUML Kerala State General Secretary P.M.A. Salam.
