Dr. K. P. Hussain praises Kerala’s visionary budget, proposes strategic UAE-modeled public-private partnerships to boost infrastructure and medical tourism.

DUBAI: Renowned UAE-based healthcare pioneer and philanthropist Dr. K. P. Hussain has lauded the visionary budget presented by Kerala Chief Minister Shri V. S. Desham. Extending his full support for its successful implementation, Dr. Hussain outlined a transformative two-pronged development blueprint aimed at channeling global non-resident Keralite (NRI) capital and establishing a comprehensive universal healthcare model across the state.

Championing a massive push for state infrastructure, Dr. Hussain proposed the immediate establishment of an NRI Investment Corporation. This body would systematically tap into the financial resources of the vast Malayali diaspora spanning the Gulf, Europe, America, and beyond. According to Dr. Hussain, the corporation should strategically divert funds into high-growth sectors, including core infrastructure, ports, industrial corridors, traditional tourism, and the rapidly growing medical tourism sector.

The second major pillar of Dr. Hussain’s proposal addresses healthcare equity. He strongly advocated for the introduction of a comprehensive health insurance scheme covering all 3.5 crore residents of Kerala. Drawing deep insights from the highly successful, mandatory healthcare and insurance frameworks implemented in the UAE, Dr. Hussain emphasized that universal coverage is entirely achievable through meticulous state planning and robust public-private partnerships (PPP).

Expressing an immediate readiness to collaborate with the state government, Dr. Hussain noted that he is slated to meet with Chief Minister Shri V. S. Desham shortly. The high-level meeting will focus on formalizing these proposals and reaffirming the global NRI community’s unwavering commitment to Kerala’s socioeconomic advancement.
