Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Careem, has announced that the Careem Bike service has surpassed 10 million cycling trips since its launch in February 2020, marking a significant milestone in Dubai’s journey towards sustainable mobility.

The achievement highlights the growing adoption of environmentally friendly transport options and supports Dubai’s vision of becoming a bicycle-friendly city that promotes healthier lifestyles and improved quality of life for residents and visitors.

To celebrate the milestone, RTA and Careem recognised the most active users of the service, awarding complimentary subscriptions and Careem DineOut vouchers. One user was honoured for completing nearly 5,000 trips, reflecting the increasing integration of cycling into daily commuting habits.

As part of the celebrations, Careem Bike is offering promotional single-trip passes priced at AED 9.5 on April 11 and 12 for new users using the code BIKE10M, compared to the standard fare of AED 19, with the aim of expanding access to sustainable transport options.

Hussain Al Banna stated that the milestone demonstrates the success of RTA’s First and Last-Mile Strategy, which focuses on sustainability, shared mobility, and user safety. He noted that the service has contributed to reducing approximately 6,590 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to removing around 2,084 vehicles from the road.

He added that Dubai’s cycling infrastructure has expanded significantly, growing from just 6 kilometres in 2009 to 636 kilometres by the end of 2025, with plans to reach 1,000 kilometres by 2030. This expansion has contributed to a 23 per cent increase in cycling trips, rising from 46.6 million in 2024 to 57.3 million in 2025.

Bassel Al Nahlaoui said the milestone reflects the strength of the ongoing partnership between Careem and RTA, emphasising the role of micro-mobility solutions in enabling safe and accessible short-distance travel.

Since its launch, Careem Bike has expanded from 71 stations to 210 stations, offering more than 2,000 bicycles across 49 residential communities. The network now covers key destinations including Dubai Marina, Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Media City, and Al Qudra, among others.

The milestone underscores Dubai’s continued investment in integrated transport systems, reinforcing cycling as a practical, sustainable, and increasingly popular mode of urban mobility.
