The strategic urban overhaul aims to modernize infrastructure and enhance the city’s aesthetic identity under Sharjah’s sustainable growth vision.
SHARJAH: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has officially commenced the demolition of the southern entrance bridge in Khorfakkan. This significant move marks the first phase of a transformative urban project designed to modernize the city’s gateway and facilitate the construction of the highly anticipated Khorfakkan University Tower.
A New Landmark for Khorfakkan
The demolition is a prerequisite for a broader infrastructure upgrade aimed at elevating the city’s urban environment. The centerpiece of this redevelopment is the Khorfakkan University Tower, a landmark architectural project intended to serve as a symbol of the city’s educational and cultural identity.
According to the SRTA, the project aligns with the visionary directives of Sharjah’s leadership to enhance the quality of life for residents while simultaneously improving the experience for tourists and visitors to the coastal enclave.
Modernizing Infrastructure
The removal of the southern entrance bridge is part of a series of development projects currently underway across Khorfakkan. These initiatives focus on:
- Infrastructure Modernization: Upgrading road networks to meet future traffic demands.
- Urban Aesthetics: Creating a visually cohesive and modern city entrance.
- Sustainable Growth: Aligning local development with Sharjah’s wider vision for sustainable urban planning.
Strategic Impact
The Khorfakkan University Tower is expected to become a focal point for the community, reflecting Sharjah’s commitment to education and architectural excellence. Authorities have indicated that while the demolition marks the end of an old landmark, the replacement infrastructure will significantly improve the flow of traffic and the visual appeal of the southern corridor.
Residents and motorists are advised to follow updated traffic signs and alternative routes provided by the SRTA as the construction of the new tower and surrounding infrastructure progresses.
