The bilateral agreement opens GCC market access for more than 2,800 tech enterprises while connecting UAE-based researchers with global talent networks.

SHARJAH —The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park has entered into a strategic pact with the World Telugu Information Technology Council to drive cross-border applied research, commercialize emerging tech, and accelerate market expansion across the GCC.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed at the park’s headquarters in Sharjah, creates a direct corridor between the emirate’s research infrastructure and a global network of 2,843 technology firms spanning 63 countries.

Under the framework, both entities will collaborate on applied research programs, pilot project validation, and bilateral talent exchanges. The agreement focuses on lowering market-entry barriers for Indian and diaspora-led technology enterprises seeking operational footprints in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Gulf region. Reciprocally, Sharjah-incubated ventures gain access to tech hubs across India and international markets where the council maintains institutional ties.

Dr. Fareed Mahmoud Abdalla Alameeri, Chief Strategy Officer at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, signed the agreement alongside Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Chairman of the World Telugu Information Technology Council.

Alameeri noted that the partnership functions as a practical bridge to convert academic and early-stage concepts into commercial outcomes. By tying Sharjah’s university and research grid to international enterprise networks, the free zone aims to accelerate joint research and patent commercialization.

Makthala, who conducted preparatory rounds of talks with regional academic bodies, public entities, and venture capital syndicates prior to the signing, stated that the initiative gives international entrepreneurs direct operational pathways into the Middle East. He emphasized that the council’s corporate network will actively support technology validation, talent transfer, and co-development programs alongside Sharjah-based labs.

The park operates as a quadruple-helix innovation cluster, integrating government support, academic institutions, venture capital, and commercial enterprises. By tapping into the council’s active roster of software engineers, founders, and research professionals, the hub seeks to bolster domestic research capacity in fields such as industrial automation, enterprise software, and smart technologies.

Initial execution phases under the agreement will involve curated business delegations, venture matchmaking sessions between startups and regional angel networks, and structured testing facilities for software and hardware products bound for regional markets.
