New amendments target private and public medical facilities to ensure patient safety; council also reviews strong 2025 fiscal growth performance.
SHARJAH — The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has officially approved a series of stringent amendments to its healthcare regulations, introducing a comprehensive framework of administrative penalties aimed at curbing professional misconduct and safeguarding patient rights across the Emirate.
The landmark decision was taken during a high-profile council meeting on Tuesday at the Ruler’s Office. The session was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the SEC. The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, both Deputy Rulers of Sharjah and Vice Chairmen of the council.
Enhanced Regulatory Compliance
The newly approved changes amend Executive Council Resolution No. 29 of 2025, which regulates the practice of healthcare activities and professions. Crucially, the revised framework casts a wide net, applying to all:
- Government healthcare institutions
- Private medical facilities operating within Sharjah
- Healthcare facilities located inside Sharjah’s designated free zones
- Individual healthcare professionals employed across these establishments
According to council officials, the primary objective of these amendments is to drastically improve the quality and efficiency of medical services. By introducing definitive administrative penalties for violators, the government expects to enforce rigid compliance with approved local laws, tighten regulatory monitoring, and guarantee the highest levels of clinical safety.
Review of 2025 Budget Performance
Beyond public health, the executive council also turned its focus to the Emirate’s financial health. Members reviewed a detailed performance report on the general budget and operational outputs for the second half of the 2025 fiscal year.
The data, which compared actual expenditures and revenues against previous years, showcased a balanced financial position. Robust growth indicators were recorded across several key sectors, including:
- Social Development: Funding and execution of community-first welfare initiatives.
- Infrastructure & Capital Projects: Progress updates on key urban and connectivity networks.
- Economic Development: Resilient performance and revenue generation across independent government entities.
The council noted that the positive indicators directly reflect Sharjah’s prudent resource management policies and ongoing commitment to fiscal efficiency and sustainable regional development.
At the commencement of the session, the Sharjah Executive Council extended its formal greetings for Eid Al Adha to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, alongside the rulers, crown princes, citizens, and residents of the UAE.
