Ministry of Defence affirms high state of readiness across armed forces and air surveillance networks as airspace monitoring remains active around the clock
ABU DHABI, August 31, 2026:The United Arab Emirates Air Force intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) detected over national territorial waters approaching from the direction of Iran on Monday morning, according to an official statement released by the Ministry of Defence.
Military radar tracking systems identified the incoming drone as it crossed into maritime boundaries. Air defence units immediately responded to neutralize the airborne threat, preventing any intrusion into sovereign mainland airspace.
Defense officials emphasized that national armed forces maintain constant surveillance over all territorial boundaries. Early warning radar systems and multi-layered air defense batteries remain operational 24 hours a day to address potential airspace violations or security incursions.
The ministry assured the public that defensive protocols were deployed swiftly without causing casualties or damage to coastal infrastructure. Security authorities urged residents and media organizations to rely exclusively on verified communications released through official channels, advising against the spread of unconfirmed reports or speculation on social media platforms.
Military forces across the country remain on elevated alert status, monitoring ongoing maritime and aerial activity in the surrounding Gulf waters. Defense authorities reiterated that all necessary operational countermeasures are fully active to safeguard national security and territorial sovereignty.
