Major Gulf and international carriers adjust timetables, cancel regional sectors, and reroute paths as European safety bulletins extend conflict-zone advisories.

DUBAI, Oct. 6, 2026 :A fresh wave of flight cancellations and timetable delays hit Dubai International (DXB) and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International (AUH) on Tuesday morning, as airlines operating across the Gulf reconfigured flight paths to navigate widening regional airspace restrictions.

Airport authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi advised all departing passengers to verify booking statuses before heading to terminals. While key regional hubs remain operational, last-minute cancellations and rolling schedule revisions have affected Emirates, flydubai, Etihad Airways, and Air Arabia, alongside several foreign operators.

Aviation routes across the Middle East face mounting complexity following heightened geopolitical friction. European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) advisories regarding regional conflict zones have been extended through November 16, 2026, cautioning carriers against operating over designated corridors across the Gulf and surrounding territories. Flight operations have also had to absorb knock-on logistical constraints, including extended circuitous routing around restricted sectors, technical fuel stops, and localized weather diversions.

Departures boards at DXB on Tuesday morning confirmed cancellations across diverse regional and international destinations. Israir scrubbed four rotations to Tel Aviv (6H662, 6H664, 6H668, and 6H666). Emirates cancelled services to Taipei (EK366), Bangkok (EK376), and Jeddah (EK205), while its codeshare links with flydubai into Tel Aviv remain offline indefinitely. Flydubai cancelled departures to Beirut (FZ157) and Erbil (FZ209). Regional discounters also pulled flights, with flyadeal cancelling F3506 to Riyadh, and SpiceJet cancelling SG5117 to Kochi while posting delays on departures bound for New Delhi, Mumbai, and alternate Kochi rotations.

At Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways reported knock-on timing disruptions. Flight EY653 to Kuwait and EY551 to Riyadh logged delayed departures. An inbound Riyadh-to-Abu Dhabi service on Monday evening (EY556) had to return to the stand in Saudi Arabia following an extended technical hold that pushed the operating crew past regulatory duty-time ceilings. Over the weekend, Etihad flight EY362 bound for Calicut diverted to Thiruvananthapuram amid severe localized weather conditions, delaying the return sector.

Sharjah-based Air Arabia registered multiple cancellations, including flights G9068 and G9124 from Sharjah to Kuwait, alongside Abu Dhabi-Kuwait service 3L020. Sharjah departures to Bahrain saw flight G9107 cancelled, while companion rotations experienced operational delays.

Global airlines are taking divergent paths toward resuming or deferring Gulf operations:

  • Returning services: Air Astana resumed flights from Almaty and Astana to Dubai in early October. Philippine Airlines reopened Manila–Dubai sectors, taking bookings from October 5. Lufthansa Group plans a phased return to Dubai starting October 25 from Munich, October 26 from Frankfurt, and October 27 via SWISS from Zurich, building toward 36 weekly flights.
  • Extended suspensions: British Airways plans to resume Dubai operations on November 3, but has suspended Abu Dhabi services until the winter 2027–28 season. Cathay Pacific has cancelled passenger flights into Dubai and Riyadh through January 31, 2027. Air France suspended Dubai and Riyadh operations through October 24. Singapore Airlines has kept flights SQ494 and SQ495 to Dubai offline through December 1. Wizz Air pushed several planned Abu Dhabi launches back to January 10, 2027, citing closed Iraqi airspace and the operational penalties of carrying extra fuel for detours.

Western governments maintain adjusted travel advice for the region. The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) lifted its blanket warning against non-essential travel to the UAE, though it continues to emphasize the risk of sudden flight disruptions and shifting airspace rules. Australia lowered its advisory from “Do Not Travel” to “Reconsider your need to travel,” while the United States Department of State keeps the UAE at Level 3 (“Reconsider Travel”).

Dubai Airports and operating carriers recommend arriving at terminals at least three hours before departure, with flydubai requesting four hours for its passengers. Travelers are urged to complete digital check-in and keep airline profile details current to receive real-time gate and departure changes.
