The UAE Ministry of Defence has launched “Beladi,” an 11-month training programme aimed at strengthening national defense capabilities, building leadership skills, and preparing a qualified operational reserve force.
Integrated into the existing National Service framework, the programme’s initial pilot phase focuses on identifying promising young Emiratis to undergo specialized instruction led by UAE Armed Forces officers and industry experts. Candidates selected for the inaugural cohort completed a comprehensive Leadership Competency Assessment phase involving cognitive, physical, and psychological evaluations, alongside field tests and personal interviews.
The Ministry designed the curriculum to combine classroom coursework with hands-on tactical application, tailored to match each participant’s demonstrated aptitude. While the pilot year features selected specialized pathways, defence officials plan to expand the training options in future iterations to meet evolving strategic requirements.
Beyond basic military preparation, the Ministry emphasized that “Beladi” establishes a long-term mechanism to link national talent directly with the defense establishment, enhancing long-term operational readiness and preserving military expertise through a structured reserve network.
